A Bit About Me
Born and raised in Oklahoma City, I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a teaching degree in English and Spanish Literature. I spent thirteen years in the classroom in Houston. I received my master's degree from San Houston University in Counseling. During all the time I was involved with students, I was a strong advocate for the arts in the classroom. Great music, visual arts, writing were always important and a part of my classroom and my counseling. For it is the arts we turn to in times of crisis for answers to life's hardest questions.

I came to personal art endeavors late in life. It all started with a push from a friend who owned a small gallery near Cloudcroft, New Mexico. I took some jewelry making classes from the Houston Art League. The satisfaction that comes from creating a sculptural jewelry piece is fulfilling in a way that is different from teaching. However, I enjoy both. I have lived in Galveston for almost 30 years and have been making jewelry for almost ten years. I am married to an artist and have three children. One is a business man, one an architect, and one is an art teacher.
