Mix Media

A Bit About Me

Eleanore (Ellie) is an award-winning mixed media collage artist based in Sugar Land, Texas. Drawing inspiration from Texas' diverse scenery and her global adventures, her art reflects a celebration of life's exuberance. Intrigued by water, birds, farm animals, beaches, lakes, and the Texas hill country, she weaves these elements into dreamlike compositions bursting with vibrant colors and warmth.

Specializing in mixed media collage, Ellie’s art is influenced by the notion of reinventing something novel from pieces and fragments of old and used print material. She creates textured masterpieces by stenciling, collaging, and layering a myriad of materials, from vintage magazines, old maps, and sheet music to deli sandwich paper. Ripping and pasting papers onto canvas along with acrylic paint, pastels, and other mediums, she builds layers upon layers, infusing her work with a voluminous sense of depth. Up close, viewers can discover dozens of tiny textural details—a mark of colored chalk here, a dash of magazine print there, a spackle of glass beads here. Her work possesses a whimsical, dream-like quality, completely saturated in color, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its enchanting world.

Art has been a lifelong passion for Ellie, beginning in childhood art classes where creativity became her sanctuary, helping her navigate learning disabilities with resilience and grace. Though her path led her away from pursuing art professionally, she returned to it as an adult, dedicating herself to refining her craft through years of experimentation and learning. Under the mentorship of artist Holly Hunter Berry and attending classes at the Glassell School of Art, she has continued to expand her artistic horizons, constantly seeking new ways to express her boundless creativity.

Ellie has been recognized with numerous awards in mixed media acrylics and enjoys participating in competitive art shows in the Houston area. Beyond the realm of art, she has been happily married for 23 years and is a proud mother to two wonderful adult children. She and her husband enjoy traveling to new and exotic places, immersing themselves in diverse cultures and landscapes. Each new adventure fuels her creativity and enriches her artistic vision. An avid reader, she is a member of three book clubs, stays active with Pilates classes, indulges in the art of floral arranging, and enjoys leisurely walks with her precious dog, Louie. In the tapestry of everyday life, inspiration is ever-present, waiting to be woven into her next artistic creation.
